Africa Day 2022: A Day of Celebration, Reflection, and Recommitment

May 25, 2022

As we celebrate Africa Day 2022—a day set aside to commemorate the formation of the Organisation of African Unity and celebrate the progress that Africa has made—we at USADF reflect proudly on our African enterprise grantees’ and partners' agility, ingenuity, and self-determination in contributing to the resilience of their communities and nations.

As the only U.S. government agency focused solely on Africa, USADF's mission is tied directly to Africa's people—both on the continent and in the Diaspora. Africa's historic and contemporary Diasporas are an immense resource in the continent's economic development, and we are increasingly forging partnerships with these communities to drive sustainable economic growth.

Beyond Africa Day 2022, USADF will remain laser-focused on supporting African-owned, African-led, and African-delivered solutions. In our first 40 years, USADF awarded more than $265 million to nearly 4,000 African enterprises, to the benefit of more than 10 million people. We stand ready to do even more during our next 40 years of creating pathways to prosperity for underserved African communities.

From all of us at USADF, I would like to wish you a Happy Africa Day.

PS: Join me today, May 25, at 1:30 p.m. EST for a virtual discussion with U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield. The discussion will focus on the importance of engaging African nations to drive sustainable economic growth. Register now to attend: https://shorturl.at/noxPU
