ambassador carol moseley braun, Chair

Former U.S. Ambassador and Senator Carol Moseley Braun was nominated by President Joe Biden and approved by the U.S. Senate on March 8, 2024, to serve as Chairman of the U.S. African Development Foundation’s Board of Directors. Ambassador Braun was the first Black woman elected to the United States Senate. She has served in various capacities at the international, national, state, and local levels for the U.S. government, including as Ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa, Recorder of Deeds and Registrar of Titles of Cook County, Illinois, Illinois State Representative, and Assistant United States Attorney.

dr. john o. agwunobi, Vice-Chairman

Dr. John Agwunobi is the Chairman and CEO of Herbalife Nutrition. Prior to joining Herbalife Nutrition in 2016, he was the Senior Vice President and President of Health & Wellness for Walmart Stores where he oversaw the company's pharmacies, vision centers, and health care clinics. Dr. Agwunobi is a former pediatrician who has also served as the Assistant Secretary of Health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, as an Admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps., and as Florida's Secretary of Health.

jack leslie, Board Member

Jack Leslie is a public relations executive, political consultant, and international development activist who previously served as the Chairman of USADF’s Board of Directors. Mr. Leslie is the Chairman of Weber Shandwick, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, former Chairman of the Board of USA for UNHCR (the UN Refugee Agency), and a participant in UNHCR Missions to Afghanistan (1998), Kosovo (1999) and Tanzania (2001). He is a trustee of the Circumnavigators Foundation and is a director of various corporate boards.

morgan davis, Board Member

Morgan Davis currently serves on the Boards of Directors for Montpelier Re Holdings Ltd., OneBeacon Insurance Group, Ltd., and White Mountains Insurance Group, Ltd. Mr. Davis is the former Chairman of the Board for Global Strategies for HIV Prevention and is a former member of the Faith Alive Foundation. It was Mr. Davis' involvement with Global Strategies that brought him to Jos, Nigeria several times, where the organization worked diligently to improve healthcare options for the region.
